Racism does not belong in Canada

The Canadian Arab Federation (CAF) sent letters on March 13 to the Minister of Public Safety, Stockwell Day, to the Attorney General of Canada, Robert Nicholson, and the Minister of Citizenship and Immigration, Diane Finley, asking them to bar Moshe Feiglin, deputy leader of Israel’s Likud party, from entering Canada. CAF is awaiting a reply from the three ministers.

Feiglin was invited by the Jewish Defence League to speak at their fundraiser on March 27. In its report Terrorism 2000/2001, the FBI referred to the Jewish Defence League as a “violent extremist Jewish organization” and stated that the FBI had thwarted at least one of its terrorist acts.

Feiglin was recently barred from entering the United Kingdom for reasons of “public good.” In a March 7 letter, Home Secretary Jacqui Smith wrote “It is considered that you [Feiglin] are seeking to provoke others to serious criminal acts and fostering hatred which might lead to inter-community violence in the UK.”

Feiglin is quoted on the Israel Science and Technology homepage as saying: “The Christian world is faced with two options: it can fight against terror, which means fighting against Islam, or it can surrender and be gradually overcome by the waves of the modern Moslem Jihad. Arabs are not sons of the desert but its father. They created the desert – everywhere they come vegetation stops and the wind blows everything away.”

He is also quoted in the New Yorker in 2004 as saying: “Why should non-Jews have a say in the policy of a Jewish state?” “For two thousand years, Jews dreamed of a Jewish state, not a democratic state. Democracy should serve the values of the state, not destroy them.” “In any case, [y]ou can’t teach a monkey to speak and you can’t teach an Arab to be democratic. You’re dealing with a culture of thieves and robbers. Muhammad, their prophet, was a robber and a killer and a liar. The Arab destroys everything he touches.”

“CAF re-affirmed today its demand that Moshe Feiglin be barred entry to Canada and seeks an expeditious response from the Government of Canada. It would be an affront to Canadian values of mutual respect, acceptance, and multiculturalism if Feiglin were permitted to enter Canada and spread his odious views” said Khaled Mouammar, CAF National President.
